We Believe The Future of Business Is Social Enterprises

RedAdairOne of my business heroes is a firefighter.  A very specialized fire fighter.   Red Adair was his name.  He capped and halted oil well fires around.   Oil well fires are very costly.  It’s a finite resource.  Oil is valuable and has a price per barrel.   Adair often still had a lot of questions and concern about his fees. His famous quote sticks in my mind:

“If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional to do this job, wait until you hire an amateur”

Einstein is often quoted (I suspect perhaps only literally and not reflecting his nuanced meaning and understanding of what it is) as “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.

One of the most difficult types of business to build is a social enterprises because it has a dual purpose and leaders and manager have to have at least two minds active at all times.  The team is rarely strong enough, even exhausted and the ideas are often weak and resources minimal.

This is our call to action to Social Enterprises everywhere to build a stronger team, reinforce and strengthen your mission and purpose, and your commitment.  This is our call to action to friends and supporters of social enterprises to encourage them to take the steps they need to succeed.

It is always about keeping in sight the mission and purpose of the enterprise, even when revenues must be paramount to allow the organization to continue.  Without achievement on the mission front, any success on the business side is just hollow.  We truly want social enterprises to succeed.

Mindset Important:

My experience leading a social enterprise and my observation of many others tells me starts with believing in yourself as an organization, believing in your mission, believing in your people. In many cases, mindset is the most appropriate starting point for business renewal and revitalization.

Social Enterprises Viable Future Business Model:

Personally, and as a consulting organization, we’re very bullish about the future of social enterprises as a viable business model in our market economies.  Even as a glass half full model, we need more enlightened entrepreneurs, more entrepreneurs with a vision for the world we all live in together, and more governments and regulatory authority that reward and encourage businesses with both a social mission and purpose that work and play in the competitive environment.
